BLIZZAPOCALYPSE JANUS:  Let us know how things are going while a giant snowy dolphin perches itself on the Eastern Seaboard.**

** Yes, okay, this blog's weather reporting (like most of what we do) has a decidedly East Coast bias.

  1. It's already coming down quite hard in NYC, and my evening meeting was cancelled by the time I got out of bed, so there's a reasonable chance I won't be leaving my apartment building today. Who's coming over to play board games?

We woke to the news of early dismissal from schools, and not long ago word came down that our office will close at 2pm. Been snowing pretty steadily at the office (Chester County PA) and the reports from home are no different. Roads are said to be bad. Glad I brought the 4WD today, but I'm gonna make sure I bring a couple snacks and drinks from the vending machine when I leave, in case everything goes all "Snowbound: The Jim and Jennifer Stolpa Story" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111225/ -- making up for the NPH reference I didn't make on Sunday's Peter Pan post) on the way home.

Work is closed and my evening rehearsal was cancelled. I fell back asleep after hearing that work was closed, unintentionally slept another 3 1/2 hours . . . Snow coming down hard now in NoVa, lots of wind. I'm keeping my injury-prone self inside till tomorrow at the earliest (if we get the possible 6-12 inches, probably longer), son walked to sandwich shop to meet friend and they're coming back here to hang out.

Leaving soon for my regular 40 minute commute home, which should take me about 1 hour and 50 minutes according to Google Maps. Looks like I can listen to the new Springsteen several times!

  5. I'm lobbying hard to get out of work early here in NYC, backing up my argument with the MTA website's urging people not to travel later today.

Here in San Francisco, it's close to 70 degrees and the camellia in my front yard is blooming. (But I'm still a wee bit jealous of a snow day!)

Well I would, but that would involve me leaving my apartment. Actually, I will venture out later, but only because I have tickets to see Frank Langella in "Lear" at BAM tonight.

  8. The big question in DC now is whether the government and schools will be closed tomorrow (Weds.). I'm thinking government opens with liberal leave (unscheduled telework), and that schools open late but don't close. But you never know...

  9. Fairfax and Loudoun schools closed tomorrow...

Today in LA, it's 78 degrees with an amazing 26% humidity. I just went to Target in shorts and sandals. Seriously, it'll rain again one day, right? I presume we'll be paid back by having an absolutely miserable summer. What goes around, comes around, right?

Have fun with that smog, earthquakes and smugness. :)

The 26-mile drive home took TWO HOURS AND TWENTY MINUTES! Killed time by listening to the NPR interview with Springsteen, Thrilling Adventure Hour, and Comedy Bang Bang.

Lower Merion schools closed tomorrow, and work is opening late (and I may just work from home if our street continues to go unplowed).

  14. Belated comment: I had a work-related trip to San Francisco (70 degrees and sunny), then Denver (61 degrees and sunny). On Tuesday, I had my argument, then wandered around downtown Denver without a coat. Then I flew back, landing slightly late, a bit after 10 pm, and was VERY glad to have my coat while waiting for a taxi. Seemed kind of backwards, but all in all, everything worked out okay....
