I can't say that I'm a fan of figure skating, but I really enjoyed Weir and Lipinski's Olympic coverage. They have great chemistry and knowledge and make things easy to understand and most importantly know when to talk and when to keep quiet.
I'm very glad that they are doing this. The coverage on the main telecast for the Olympics has been weak for years, and Johnny and Tara will be a huge step up in knowledge and entertainment.
That is fantastic news! I'm a former figure skater and watch more coverage than airs on television. Johnny and Tara are more honest critics and way more fun!
Good. If I never hear Scott Hamilton yell "Triple toooooooooooooooe...YES!" again, it'll be too soon. Tara and Johnny were knowledgeable, fun, and fabulous. Excellent decision.
It's that last bit that makes this such exciting news. I loved watching with them because I could enjoy the routine as it was happening and listen to their critiques and explanations during replays. Hamilton's style might have been needed during the days before so many people have DVRs and you can't rewind and look at what they're talking about if they don't show a replay. But now, quiet during, talkative after is the better approach.
Ding. Lots of announcers could stand to learn that skill instead of feeling the need to jabber.
Tara and Johnny were REALLY good during the Olympics last year. Even my husband, who puts up with the figure skating, commented on how good they were and their ability to explain what was happening without being condescending. Am super excited for the change!
Great news! Tara and Johnny were so much better. I still remember watching the Olympics years ago, and when a skater fell during a jump, Scott Hamilton's commentary was: "That was so.... bad." Between that and his endless repetitions of "She just opened the door..." I'm so done with him.
