ONCE AGAIN, ZERO NOMINATIONS FOR MAXIM: The 2009 National Magazine Awards are out, with The New Yorker leading the pack with 10 nominations (the surprise is GQ at #2, with competitor Esquire shut out of the "general excellence" category). Particularly nice is their full nominations list, which provides links to almost all of the nominated pieces for your reading pleasure. Standouts include Hanna Rosin's piece on transgender children (nominated in "Feature Writing"), Esquire's examinations of the best steaks and sandwiches in America, and Texas Monthly's quest for the best barbecue in Texas.
