BINGO, BANGO, BONGO AND IRVING: Potentially coming to the silver screen -- a Gilligan's Island film with Michael Cera and Seth Rogen as Gilligan and the Skipper, with Beyonce as Ginger. Further baseless speculation includes the rather inspired choice of Hugh Laurie as the Professor, while show creator Sherwood Schwartz, 93, (premorse, begone!) wants Warren Beatty and Annete Bening to play the Howells.

Nope.  Violates the Finn Law of Remakes, which mandates a remake only if it was a good idea with bad execution.  As GI was a bad idea with bad execution in the first place, I cannot get behind this.  Even for Annette Benning.

And seriously, has Beyonce ever shown any acting talent yet?

Lloyd Schwartz said in the article that Beyonce and Cera were just him speaking off-the-cuff about who he would want in the movie, not about who they had asked or would ask or would likely be in it.  I'd bet a substantial sum of money that neither Cera nor Beyonce would star in it (though Beyonce probably would cameo).

  7. Still "potential," albeit not a likely one.  (Jason Segel as Skipper?)

  8. Oh, come on, Christina Hendricks is an obvious choice for Ginger.

And if Scott Pilgrim taught us anything, it's that Michael Cera is not a draw (and maybe even a repellent) at the box office.

Watts, I was reading this to my husband, his brother, and his brother's wife... I'm telling them the casting choices above, and they're groaning about the whole thing... until I bring up your idea of Christina Hendricks. Then the room goes quiet. Sounds like a winner to me.

Skipper should be older, fatter and easily flustered. Kind of pedestrian choice here, but, Kevin James?
