A NIGHT OF MUSIC, COMEDY, HUGGING, AND THE OCCASIONAL AWKWARD SILENCE: Team CoCo rejoice, as "The Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television Tour" is on, with tickets already on sale. Amusingly, his LA date is at the Gibson Amphitheater, which was almost adjacent to his old studio.
ETA: One downer? While I expect there will be a band, no Max Weinberg.
And the NY date is at Radio City Music Hall, which is nearly adjacent to his old(er) studio
ReplyDeleteThere IS a major city smack dab between Chicago and Toronto, guys. I'm hoping that the 3 days between Chicago and Toronto means that they just haven't locked down a Detroit venue yet.
ReplyDeleteMy assumption is that several of those dates are likely to be "extra show added by popular demand!" dates.
ReplyDeleteI just got mine for DC! Am so excited. Happy for him and his writers too.
ReplyDeleteAlready happened in NYC and Chicago.
ReplyDeleteFlint?
ReplyDeleteI'm heading out on a road trip right around the same time Conan will be in the NYC/NJ area, but fortunately I just got tickets to the Upper Darby, PA show. I'd be so bummed to miss this. Google Maps tells me Upper Darby is an approximately 90-minute drive for me. I assume it will be longer on a weeknight, but still totally worth it.
ReplyDeleteAnd my apologies for a bit of a post hijack here, but speaking of my road trip, I'm heading to the Grand Canyon in late May, then San Antonio, and then hitting Memphis on the way home. It's going to be approximately a 2-week trip with us required to be in San Antonio May 30 for a work thing. We're still mapping it all out, but if anyone has suggestions for good stops along the way - or anything we really shouldn't miss in San Antonio (right now we have the Riverwalk & Alamo) or Memphis (already on the list: Graceland, Civil Rights museum, Beale St), please let me know. I know the Thing Throwers are a well-traveled group!
Damn. The two closest dates to me (Tulsa and Kansas City) are the same weekend that I graduate with an MBA. As much as I am willing to pay to see Coco, I am not willing to give up the culmination of three years of night classes.
ReplyDeleteOther things in Memphis:
ReplyDeleteThe Peabody Duck, Barbecue--either Corky's ("dry") or the Rendezvous ("wet"), Sun Studios, If something Memphis in May is happening while you're there, worth checking out, Mud Island
As for San Antonio, the other missions are interesting and not nearly as overblown as the Alamo.
Lucky! Sold out FAST. Let me know if you can't go ;-)
ReplyDeleteOK, OK--y'all persuaded me. I now have 4 seats for the June 2 show at Radio City--about $75/head including fees, which is actually pretty reasonable. There may be a chance for readers to win at least one of those seats, so keep on reading.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to sit here and pout. Dammit!
ReplyDeleteJust got mine for June 2 at Radio City!
ReplyDeleteI want a NY ticket! Could not get them online - trying MSG since I was nearby.
ReplyDeleteErin, the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby is a gorgeous jewel box of a venue. I've seen several shows there, including Bruuuuuce and Squeeze. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI managed to snag a tickets for the June 1 Radio City date. Yay!
ReplyDeleteJune 2 at Radio City! I'm there. Moral of the story is keep trying ticketmaster.
ReplyDeleteGuest was me- but I got a ticket! I work right near Madison Square Garden so I just went over and bought it there. June 2nd!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt! Unfortunately we'll miss Memphis in May but I'm adding The Peabody Ducks and Sun Studios to the definitely list, and Mud Island as a maybe if we have time. The BBQ will happen for sure - thanks for the recommendations!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thanks!
ReplyDeletei just got our tickets to the newly added second seattle show in april.
ReplyDeleteJenn, if you want to get back down south, the Atlanta show still has good tickets available.
ReplyDeleteNo, Toledo, JJF.
ReplyDeleteGot mine for Atlanta- last stop on the tour.
ReplyDeleteDon't you mean Corky's for wet and Rendezvous for dry? That would be my recommendation.
ReplyDeletewhat was stopping Conan from being funny before? (not so much Team Coco as Team Anti-Leno; or Team Dave.)
ReplyDeleteI am sad. Cheap tickets sold out, and I'm not with CoCo $250/ticket worth. Maybe Jenn C will invite me.
ReplyDeleteI need him to add some extra dates in the Southeast. Like, somewhere in NC, preferably. Charlotte is lovely that time of year.
ReplyDeleteMy husband got me two Chicago tickets for my birthday. Looking forward to it!
ReplyDelete$695.00 for the Austin show?! ANd sold out already?! COME ON, COCO.
ReplyDelete2 Shows in Boston sold out earlier today....oh, well.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to get my Ginger comedy bonding fix some other way.

PRINCE HARRY WISHES HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BRIT AWARDS
With a special birthday message from Prince Harry for the 30th Anniversary of the BRIT Awards
Sorry everyone! Maybe they will add another DC show? There is a little bit of time when you look at the calendar...after DC he's not at Bonaroo until 6/11.
ReplyDeleteWhen I found out about the show and that tix were on sale, I bought them first, and THEN told my friends about the shows. Just to show you how crazy this made me.
I got decent seats (orchestra) at the June 5th Boston show. I was lucky enough to read it on boston.com not too long after they went on sale. Glad I jumped on it!
ReplyDeleteIf you like outdoorsy-type things, I recommend Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, which is not super far from San Antonio, especially if you're coming in on I-10. It's a nice sized park to see in a day, with some interesting hiking.
