DON'T TELL HIS HEART, HIS ACHY BREAKY HEART: With news that Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife are splitting, this raises the question of where on the curve of teen stardom (colloquially known in some circles as "The Lohan Curve") Miley is. Miley hasn't reached the Mean Girls level in terms of general popularity (and frighteningly, Mean Girls 2 arrives next year, without any of the original cast/crew involved), but is she primed for a fall? Are we due for an overly literal song from Miley about dealing with her parents' divorce?
HT to Gawker for reminding me of the Lohan video.

ReplyDeleteTim Meadows is saddened and disappointed by your oversight.
Oops--overlooked Tim Meadows.
ReplyDeleteLindsay Lohan was not particularly popular or well-known at the time of Mean Girls. I think at the time she was most famous for feuding with Hillary Duff over the Aaron Carter like triangle. Miley Cyrus, I mean, I'm not in her target demo (though I guess "creepy old men" is becoming her target demo, so maybe I am) and haven't liked anything she's done in any medium, but look at it this way: Lohan is broke (because she didn't make that much money when she was working and hasn't worked in a long time), but Cyrus will never be broke (because she has already made an incredible amount of money). I think Cyrus is already on the downhill slope of her career arc, but I see her future more like Britney's, where no matter how lurid her personal life gets, she'll still have a huge cushion of money to stop her fall .
ReplyDeleteWe should cancel prom...but we've already paid for the DJ.
