ACTIVATE THE OMEGA-13 DEVICE: Right before
Galaxy Quest was released, E! aired a 30 minute "documentary" about the
Galaxy Quest "TV series," with Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, and Darryl Mitchell all talking about the "show" in character. While you'd think it'd be a bonus feature on a DVD, it wasn't. However, someone's been nice enough to upload it on YouTube, and
IO9 has pointed us all to it. Well worth your time, and still the best thing Tim Allen has ever done (or probably will ever do).

ReplyDeleteAhem. Other than the Toy Story films, you mean.
Yes--though unlike Dreamworks animated features, I define Pixar's movies much less by their cast--Shrek is a Mike Meyers movie and Kung Fu Panda a Jack Black movie, but I don't immediately think of Toy Story as a Tom Hanks/Tim Allen movie, Monsters, Inc. as a Billy Crystal/John Goodman movie, or Cars as an Owen Wilson movie.
ReplyDeleteYou don't think of Nemo as an Albert Brooks/Ellen DeGeneres movie?
ReplyDeleteMatt, I'm concerned that you may not be watching enough television.
ReplyDeleteWhoever wrote this episode should DIE!
ReplyDeleteI have ONE job on this stupid ship...
Yeah, I could quote from the awesomeness all day. But I won't. I'll just thank you for posting this - I love this "documentary"!
By Grathnar's Hammer, I agree with you! Bonus question: name another British actor who could have taken Rickman's place.
ReplyDeleteAwesome movie - that first quote is my favorite! We showed our 7-year-old son Galaxy Quest for the first time last weekend, and he loved it. Such a fun show.
