TOUCHED BY A LAWYER: The
CW's current slate of pilot pickups has one that seems particularly bizarre--
Heavenly, in which a young attorney at a legal aid clinic is actually an angel sent from heaven to do...um...lawyer things. Joe Adalian of Vulture has
already made the obvious joke, but I'm just grateful that we're one step closer to allowing
another SNL hatched idea to become a real series.
I could see this being good as a much darker show than it will likely be- make the main character an Old Testament Seraph, with a perfect knowlege of the law, and a willingness to use the absolute letter thereof to help his/her clients, with no thought as to their guilt or innocence, content in the knowlege that true justice will be applied in the next world. (An examination, if you will of the Lawful Neutral point of view.)
ReplyDeleteThrow in a John Constantine ripoff Private Eye/assistant and a young associate or paralegal in improbably short skirts, and I'm there.
The Cooper and Stone description makes me want to ram my head into a wall. Hello, Lakeview 90210!
ReplyDeleteAnd how is Hart of Dixie not a Northern Exposure ripoff?
