FOLLOW TUESDAY: Longtime commenter
Tosy and Cosh had the wise suggestion that we invite everyone to share their Twitter handles for following purposes, which oddly we haven't done for ... ever? I'll compile them all as a list at
@alott5ma/regulars by day's end.
Me: @adambonin (warning: at least 30% political/legal)
ReplyDeleteThis blog: @alott5ma (alerts for all new posts)
I am @fire4hairlady
ReplyDeleteI'm @NakedBabyPhotos, which is both a Ben Folds B-Sides/Rarities album and a commentary on being embarrassing and out of place. As opposed to being a child pornography clearinghouse, which is what some people think when they see it.
ReplyDelete@EricJ very occaisional meme participation. Some retweeting.
ReplyDeleteI'm @shondarhimes Warning: 95% of my tweets are patiently (and sometimes impatiently) answering questions from hardcore Grey's/Private Practice fans -- many of whom appear to be 13 year old girls.
ReplyDeleteI'm @mattmarcotte (innovative, I know!) with a mixture of popcult, personal life, political/legal, and a very small smattering of religious stuff.
ReplyDelete@maggiemae45 (a misspelled reference to Rod Stewart's Maggie May, which is what my mom would have named me if the neighbor's dog would not have been named Maggie.)
ReplyDeleteI'm @bristlesage, but I only use it to follow, not tweet, at least so far. Now that @MayorEmanuel is gone, it might be time to branch out.
ReplyDeleteThe name, which is my nom d'internet everywhere, is a portmanteau of "bristlecone" and "sagebrush", the state tree and state flower of Nevada, my home territory.
Maggie--my MOM's dog was named Katie, and here I still sit. And yes, they did call me Katie as a child. There was Katie-girl and Katie-dog. Luckily the dog lived with my grandparents.
ReplyDeleteI'm KFort77, but I joined about a week ago to follow a strange assortment of celebrities and news sites, so I have no idea what I'm doing.
I'm...@heathalouise. Shocking, I know.
ReplyDelete<span>I'm @andrewraff and attempt to be witty and funny. Since I generally fail at that, it's a mix of crankiness, inanity and retweets. </span>
ReplyDeleteI'm @kjontv. I tried to give myself something specific to write about, promptly ignored it, and now probably comment on music and movies as much as I do about television.
ReplyDeleteI'm @mhgatti. I'll warn you of the dailymile workout updates.
ReplyDelete@paultab -- branding, branding, branding. :-)
ReplyDelete@josephfinn - crankiness, cat picture, reading & movie watching updates and more crankiness.
ReplyDelete@urbanscribe Mostly Chicago, Music, Art, the Paper Machete (I am the editor for a weekly live magazine. It rocks.)
ReplyDeleteI'm TaraTLK - crankiness, knitting and reading are the most frequent topics.
ReplyDeleteI'm @cherylstober. Long time reader, but very infrequent commenter. Mostly tweeting about my kids, life in Boston and reality TV.
ReplyDeleteI'm TaraTLK - crankiness, knitting and reading are the most frequent topics.
ReplyDeleteTo all y'all who wear fanny packs
ReplyDeleteI have a niece Clara Grace who has an older sister in a doggy named Gracie
ReplyDelete@Dewb, surprisingly enough.
ReplyDeleteMe: @tedfrank - the charm and good looks of Gilbert Gottfried, without the tsunami jokes
ReplyDeleteLaw blog: @pointoflaw - still hasn't apologized for the whole Sarah Palin thing
Neat!
ReplyDelete@tosyandcosh. Mostly pop culture stuff. Thanks all!
I'm @maretorliss -- attempter at wit, complainer/praiser of my job depending on the hour, pop-culture retweeter, and bookish nerd.
ReplyDeleteAnd for those with very specific interest in the bookish nerd and job stuff, I can periodically be found at @latimesfob, a feed filled with madcap tweets and retweets about the authors and books to be found at the LA Times Festival of Books.
@randois VERY passive tweeter, mainly just follow a bunch of pop culture / sports folks. However, having more followers (than the, like, 4 I currently have) might inspire more participation.
ReplyDeleteI'm @erinhines57 and I often forget I have Twitter.
ReplyDelete@megmyo and I almost never tweet. If I do, it's like to be a pop culture or political retweet from someone more knowledgeable/funnier than I.
ReplyDeleteI'm @kpetersnm - a random mix of pop culture, college sports (my job), baking, being a working mom & living in Portland, OR
ReplyDelete@amywatts - and I wish I could say there was a focus. There's a fair amount of complaining about patrons and linking to music. I like to use Twitter conversationally, so there's a fair amount of @'ing, especially with other ThingThrowers
ReplyDeleteand there's also the sporadically updated stream I do for the library: @liblinks - Random, esoteric reference/research links
@kdonnel1 (because I loved my first email account so much) Much too much info about my children
ReplyDelete@emilygwynne but I'm with those above who hardly ever tweet and mostly forget that I have an account unless someone asks.
ReplyDeleteIf you follow Dan's twitter feed, you get to see stuff like Careless Whisper Sax Guy goes public:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/v/GaoLU6zKaws&feature" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="170" height="140
@andrewtlloyd, but it's entirely about my medical tourism/medical travel legal practice
ReplyDelete@truckstoptunes, because you used to be able to get the best mix/complilation tapes/CDs at truckstops. i occasionally jump in on conversations with other thingthrowers.
ReplyDeleteMine is a mix of whining, tweeting about my little baby theatre co, retweeting funnier people, and quilting conversations with Watts below and a few other thing throwers.
ReplyDeleteI picked the right day to be a productive Twitizen.
ReplyDelete@smkuenn: books, movies, football, music, politics, cooking. I'm at a conference this week, so lots of posts from that, but it's almost over.
ReplyDeleteI'm @rhanser, but I'm a pretty boring Tweeter (big shock there). I'm much more amusing on Facebook. (Not necessarily amusing; just *more* amusing.)
ReplyDelete@scottru. Sometimes clever, but mostly dorky.
ReplyDeleteI'm @adcut for real-life, @pilcop_ej for work-life. Former is occasional reactions to/livetweets of the latest SyFy Original Movie, SOTU address, sporting event, or some other thing that strikes my fancy, and/or copious RTs of people who you are probably already following (and since I just checked, I haven't tweeted anything in a month - maybe I should do better than that). Work account is mostly RTs of enviro/public health stuff, and occasional shameless trumpeting of some work-related thing or another (and I just updated that one for the first time in a month too).
ReplyDeleteI'm @realchriswilson. Mostly pop culture, occasional sports, mostly links.
ReplyDeleteOh, I guess if you are interested in American Indian law issues, you could do worse than to follow @ILPCTurtleTalk, my work twitter/blog feed. Today I go off on the WSJ AND the NYTs. Banner day.
ReplyDelete@cms519-- pop culture and the Phillies
ReplyDeleteI'm not a daily tweeter but I tweet much more frequently during baseball season.
Thanks for putting the list together, Adam.
There's also probably a fair amount of using the phrase "a fair amount."
ReplyDelete@IsaacSpaceman, only to follow. I've tweeted like five times, and I think four of them were tweets to Fienberg or Sepinwall about which I immediately got embarrassed because they were not funny and Dan and Alan thankfully ignored them instead of retweeting and adding "look at what this douchebag sent me."
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of one of my favorite Twitter accounts--Celeboratory, which is devoted to nothing but retweeting tweets from (almost exclusively utterly vapid) celebrities, preceded by "SHUT UP!"
ReplyDeleteI'm @HitchDied and I would LOVE if people who actually watched Idol read my tweets during the broadcasts so I could feel less guilty about inundating my Idol-disinterested followers. Warning: some RT's; some "the food I am eating is delicious!"; last week I accidentally tweeted what was supposed to be a drunk text to my fiancé.<span></span><span></span>
ReplyDelete@spudsfan No particular theme, just comments on stuff, mostly sports & pop culture. Will probably be fairly quiet for the next month, as it's busy season.
ReplyDeleteI'm @nagorsky - mostly pop culture, my kids, and cooking. Sometimes Jewy stuff. Warning - when I'm cooking a lot I tweet my prep, and people have unfollowed me for it. I can't tell if it makes them too hungry or too disgusted, or if they're just pissed they're not invited to whatever event I'm prepping.
ReplyDeleteFor work, you can follow @uchicagolaw if you like. Needless to say, law school related shtuff.
@akschweitz. I hope I'm occasionally funny/relevant. Mostly film/TV thoughts, especially Survivor (I know those of you who participate in the Survivor posts here are SHOCKED to hear...).
ReplyDelete"Enough of this saying enough!"
ReplyDeleteI'm @jxchu, mostly RTs, whining about traffic in DC, some work related stuff, food stuff, and a lot of running related tweets.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, I'm happy to brefriend any fellow ALOTT5MA'er on Facebook. (You know my first name, and my last name is pretty easily ascertained from my Twitter ID.)
ReplyDeleteIn case you miss me...and I know you do, @alexgordon
ReplyDeleteI'm @tigerpantss, and I'd say it's about 50% observation of weird stuff I see on the internet, around me, on TV, etc. and 50% conversations with other tweeters. As I'm unemployed, I'm a fairly active tweeter, so I can clog your timeline like no one's business.
ReplyDeleteI'm at @LERS. Tweeting is good but I am only intermittent.
ReplyDeleteMarsha - I don't know why anyone would unfollow you after reading your prep-related tweets. Your menus always sound so delicious (and ambitious)!
ReplyDeleteSo I could probably google the answer, but what constitutes medical travel/medical tourism?
ReplyDelete"<span>last week I accidentally tweeted what was supposed to be a drunk text to my fiancé"</span>
ReplyDeleteMust follow. And send drinks.
I'm @blackfog. I complain a lot. Then again, I'm from Philly. Complaints primarily tech-oriented, but may also be gaming, literature, politics, or pop-culture-related, as well. Or random. I'm good at random. (Which you can probably tell by the complete lack of organization in this post.)
ReplyDeletei'm @ktmusar. honestly, it's just a lot of randomness, with way too many comments about what's going on around me. hmm, i'm not selling myself very well, am i? ok, i'll post cat pictures too! i hear the internet loves cat pictures.
ReplyDelete@heldincontempt here. A mix of pharma news, Glee, shoes, Japan, and angst.
ReplyDeleteI am @janifrax. I mostly follow others although someday I might actually tweet something about ballet, fractals, or being a grownup -- a topic that mystifies me daily.
ReplyDeleteNot often you see a list of three items, including "fractals," where fractals are *not* the "topic that mystifies [the writer] daily." :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, this post has caused me to spend more time on twitter in the last few hours than I have in the last two years. Well done.
ReplyDelete@kcosmopolitan, but it's really not that interesting!
ReplyDeleteI am @immaterialevent. I post rarely, and it's usually just random things that annoy me.
ReplyDelete@the2scoops - tweeting regularly: pop culture, Toronto and its music scene, retweeter of those funnier/smarter/angrier than I
ReplyDelete@reneeanastasia -- I'm late to this post and I've kind of given up on Twitter, but I may eventually go back to it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Most aren't ambitious, but after I tweeted the three weeks of prep leading up to that 8 course sit down fancy dinner I did last summer, people just assume everything I cook is fancy. Couldn't be further from the truth.
ReplyDeletePeople who travel abroad to have procedures done.
ReplyDelete@rford, though I'm pretty quiet. Sometimes I post about tech stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm @seyo. I mostly talk about food, and occasionally I rant about law school.
ReplyDeletelongtime reader, rare poster. I'm @jen_bonnell and end up posting mostly tv/popculture comments or YA/children's book stuff. Oh, and knitting.
ReplyDelete@dkdykstra
ReplyDeleteI'm @tortoiseshelly, and I tend to tweet in sporadic bursts. I mostly just enjoy reading other people's tweets.
ReplyDelete
