A WHOLE NEW WORLD: I'm not 100% sold on the potential brilliance of Sucker Punch yet (though I'll almost certainly go see it), but if it starred Disney princesses? That, I'd definitely be sold on.
I predicted to Finn that there is a 5% chance that Sucker Punch is the most awesome movie of all time. Unfortunately, there's a 95% chance it will be truly awful. I don't think there's a chance of a middle ground.
Yep, I've heard very bad things, but I'll probably still see it, just for this reason. And there's always that off-chance that *I'll* still think it's fun, even if it's not.
My interest in seeing Sucker Punch was hovering somewhere between "Non-existent" and "Maybe on a plane someday". But that was before I knew Jon Hamm was in it.
The girl from Suite Life is Brenda Song, last seen going all crazytown on Andrew Garfield in The Social Network. She also played Wendy Wu, Homecoming Warrior. (It's so embarrassing that I know that.)
And calling someone "the Cordelia of the show" is my new favorite thing ever.
The owl movie is muddled to say the least. We watched last night in the SlowPea household (two boys 8 and 6) and the six year old enjoyed it the 8 year old less so. It has some weirdly strong Australian accents which are very disconcerting but beautiful animation. DVD only. I think Snyder lacks pacing ability as all his movies slump in the second act and only some recover from that slump.
Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung is about as close to starring Disney princesses as you can get.
ReplyDeleteToss in Christy Romano and what's her name from Suite Life...is that Jamie Chung? The Cordelia of the show.
ReplyDeleteWell, that was a lot of fun!

At the very least it'll be fun to look at. Zack Snyder has an incredible gift for breathingtaking visuals and creative staging.

ReplyDeleteGoing by Snyder's track record, I'm willing to go wtih 10% based on Watchmen being mildly good. 300? Yech. The owl movie, I haven't seen.

Jamie Chung was the one who played "Jamie" on Real World: San Diego.
ReplyDeleteWe've been watching a lot of Buffy and Angel at Case De Finn lately. (Cordelia just became half demon! Glory just showed up!)

I really enjoyed that. I will probably see Sucker Punch because I am a sucker for "strong women." I was also impressed they got Zep for the trailer.
