I love Jodie Foster but I think she's too young to be getting this now, and also wish her most recent projects prior to getting it weren't The Beaver and Carnage.
Too young? She's been a paid actress for 46 years while transitioning from commercials to kid movies to adult roles to director. Throw in a handful of awards, and that sounds like a decent "lifetime" to me. I missed Carnage, but The Beaver was a pretty decent movie.Plus, I say inna t'ee inna way about once a week; which should count for something.
I wish she would return my love.
I'm not saying she doesn't deserve it at some point in her career or that the longevity of her work thus far shouldn't be admired. I just feel like, at 49, there's probably still a lot more she's going to do, whereas there are people like Robert Duvall, Mel Brooks, Angela Lansbury, Peter O'Toole and more that are deserving of this kind of award and probably ought to receive it sooner rather than later given their ages.
