    Alternate title quote:

Librarian: Sir, would you be more comfortable in a study room?

Andrew Beckett: No. Would it make you more comfortable?

  2. Of course I have a couple:
Party Girl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufltS3vpJoQ (Oh, the 90s)
The Prince and Me: http://youtu.be/jGl-HbApYUw?t=1m27s (Some of the hottest handling since Daniel Day Lewis and Michelle Pfeiffer in that carriage in The Age of Innocence)

  5. Also, I know it's not as much fun cinematically, but our shelves have bars connecting and securing them across the top, to prevent exactly this sort of thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQYsHLwXnMc (Three O'Clock High)

  6. I'd add in the library scenes in The Sure Thing. That's some seriously 80's cocksure Cusack there.

  7. Do the librarians assume they're homeless people? I bet they do.

I think we can all agree that this is the WORST scene involving a librarian/library: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS562kV-xcs. (I realize it's not actually SET in a library, but that doesn't make it any less offensive.)

Poor Mary! Spinster librarian WHO NEEDS GLASSES.

SHE should be the one throwing herself off a bridge.

Every year when I watched IAWL with my mom, after that scene she'd always give me the gimlet eye and say, "Remember, honey, any guy you date believes that if you hadn't met him you'd be a sexless librarian."

The Paper Chase. When Hart breaks into the Harvard Law Library in order to look at Kingsfield's notes from when he was a Harvard Law student.

  13. The Truman Show: "I like your pin. I was wondering that myself."

Which makes me wonder: what books do you put in a secret totalitarian society built for one?

  15. Even though I know it's not why the IBM computer is called Watson, that coincidence of her name makes me chuckle.

How did I not know until right now today that Nora Ephron's parents were the screenwriters on Desk Set? http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article.html?isPreview=&id=99382|90494&name=Desk-Set

God, I love Desk Set. It really seems like it should be a musical.
