THE LEFTOVERS MIRACULOUSLY LASTED FOR EIGHT DAYS:  This year, for only the second time ever in the history of evers,** Hanukkah will start before Thanksgiving, and it will never happen again.

** In an addendum, the author explains that it also happened in 1888 because, prior to 1942, Americans celebrated Thanksgiving on the last Thursday in November, not the fourth.

  2. I cannot imagine a more delicious meal than turkey, stuffing, and latkes. CARBS AHOY! And then pie.

  4. Someone who didn't know very many Jews asked me last year if Jews celebrate Thanksgiving. As I pointed out, it's a holiday where you gather your family together, eat more food than your stomach was ever meant to handle, and at least one fight is guaranteed to break out. Thanksgiving is, therefore, the most Jewish non-Jewish holiday there is!

So does this mean that card stores will now have Chanukah merchandise available, say, right after July 4th??

It has now been pointed out to me that this means Rosh Hashanah starts the night of Wednesday, September 4, which will really mess up back-to-school calendars in certain regions of the country.
