I guess NBC found its science and/or magic.

Eh, why not? It's a good idea executed in the original poorly enough that I was rooting for Ben Stiller.

I do not approve of this. The movie had its comedic moments, but was not a comedy. I don't like where I see this going with Ben Stiller behind it.

Well, there was the comedy of them all pretending that her movie was good.

  5. The most troubling piece of all of this is that it's going to remain a period piece set in the 90s, which seems to me like the potential for cheap (and not particularly funny) reference jokes. I think there's a fascinating show to be made about the struggles of recent college graduates in the here and now.

And speaking of Stiller, man, that Walter Mitty trailer is very very strange for what I'd assumed was going to be a big scale, lowest common denominator, Christmas family comedy.

  6. Could be brilliant -- could, and more likely will, be the apocryphal piece the show-within-the-movie ended up being.

Although we've taken the RemakeBot 2000 on vacation, it has asked me to say "Oh, for fuck's sake."

  8. "I think there's a fascinating show to be made about the struggles of recent college graduates in the here and now." Isn't that "Girls"? (I don't really watch Girls, so maybe I'm wrong.)

Unless it's financed with someone's parent's credit card I'm calling bullshit.

  10. You can't make a movie using only items found at the gas station!
