NOBODY TALKS, EVERYBODY WALKS: In chronological order, my favorite things about last night's NBC lineup, which wasn't always great but made me laugh a lot:
  • Danny Pudi's monologue in the Dean's office
  • The beautifully-acted montage of reaction shots to the Park's Department's Summer Catalogue
  • The only decoration in Darryl's office (see title)
  • everything Darryl said to Oscar
  • The Office tag, which was as out-of-left-field as anything the show has ever done
  • Making fun of Canadians
Am I missing anything?

  1. How about bad-cop Annie "Psycho" Edison smashing Jeff's head into the desk?  (All the Annie/Shirley stuff had me howling, but that was the highlight.)

  2. Of course, that requires linkage to this tumblr.

  5. <span>It's not a meteor; it's a cookie wand. Me and Jeff made it because it made you look more like the Cookie Crisp wizard, which is not even a reference I get because the Cookie Crisp mascot when I was growing up wasn't a wizard. It was a burglar.</span>

I was crying by the time this came up.

That was Michael Gross. It took me until about half way through the ep to figure it out. And that was Amy Pietz hitting on Michael in The Office. To figure out who she was, I had to mentally insert her awful accent from Caroline in the City.

I would absolutely watch Troy and Abed in the MOR-NING!

This is the first week where I've TiVo'd all 4 shows in one big block, rather than as 4 separate shows. Well worth it - now I get to see all the ending tags without getting cut off.

You know, it was such a shrewd move to give Aubrey Plaza other notes to play (beyond bored scorn) -- they overdo the shots where April tries to rein herself in after showing some joy, but the way she brightens up around Andy makes a really nice contrast.  Pairing her up with Andy, with his irrepressible chipperness, works unreasonably well.  And letting Leslie be a Yenta, more subtly than you would expect, is another treat.

I need to set up the big Thursday night block. Why is NBC the only network that consistently runs scripted shows over the timeslots? (Or, why do they run the produciton company logos before the tags?)

Yeah, "Troy and Abed in the morning!" was my facebook status update for the day.  I love how every tag is Troy and Abed-focused, and I hope it spills over into other shows.  Yes, I mean letting Troy and Abed do all of the tags, for everybody.
