AFTER CHANGES WE ARE MORE OR LESS THE SAME:  I'm in the process of installing Disqus as our new comments system.  Why Disqus, and not Blogger?  Because I like "likes," and I think it's a better platform.  If I'm wrong, I will be the Anti-Tom Petty of backing down.

All existing comments are being imported into the system, but it make take 24 hours.

Please let me know how this is working out for you, in the Comments, or if necessary shoot me an email.

update!  To edit the name which is displayed with your comments, go to your Disqus account settings to Profile, and change your Full Name to the one under which you'd like to post.

second update: To see older comments during the transition, check our mobile site.

  9. Minor thing--can we get the comments to display in chron order top to bottom (oldest started thread at top, rather than at bottom)?

  10. Muahahahahahaha, I am at the top!!

  11. Yes, please, oldest comments first rather than last.

  12. No no no. The current system is awesome. (At least till someone posts above me.)

On the "Discussion" tab above, you can set your view between Oldest, Newest, and Best first.

  14. I use Disqus to comment at Tom & Lorenzo too. Like it there, will like it here too.

  15. Oh, woot! Looks like comments are editable!

  16. Hmm - anyone know if you can edit your display name if you're using Twitter to log in? It's weirding me out to see my full name instead of just my surname. Who's this Amy Watts person? What happened to Watts?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hah - it amuses me that it puts "parent" after all our names. "Offspring for you! And offspring for you! BABIES FOR EVERYBODY!"

Equivalent of like/dislike,and if you set your viewing preference to best first, it'll sort accordingly.

Got it! Go to edit profile, and under the Profile tab, enter the name under which you'd like to post as "Full Name."

If there seems to be spam from having done so, it's certainly something I'd consider in determining whether this platform is worth it.

Did we lose all of our comments on the Pitch Perfect NYC screening post? Sadness.

  29. They'll be back once the Disqus transition is complete (though we'll apparently lose past threading).

We'll see if the comment goes through from the iPad.

But my issue is that I can't see comments on my work computer, apparently because it's still using IE8, and I can't do anything about that.

I think I might change my name to "Guest" to remind me of the olden days.

Just testing... and it looks like Disqus comments recognize both the ".com" and my default ".ca" url. I know the workaround was simple, but this is even easier.

Good morning, good afternoon good evening. Didn't start to work for me until I switched over to Firefox. Weirdly testing in IE9 I got the old comments. Thank you for the migration.

I have the same problem, but I'm using IE9 at work. Looks like troubleshooting is on tomorrow's to-do list.

  48. Ten days into the new comment system and I'm finally able to see comments. (I'm not thrilled with Disqus.) I use IE8 at work and home, and couldn't see comments with either one, even after following the steps in the troubleshooting link. Sometimes I could see a link for comments, but when I clicked it, comments wouldn't show up. Sometimes there was no link at all. I tried to get in through Firefox, but the site wouldn't even load. Finally I downloaded Chrome, and that did it. But I would really, really prefer to get in through IE - the site looks better to me (the fonts are all weird in Chrome) and it's what I use in general.
