The thing about jughandles is that when driver understand them, they make things better. But they are really perplexing to non-natives. Two of my best friends missed my father's funeral because of jughandles!
Jersey native - grew up 1000 feet from a jughandle turn (type A). Totally don't get how anyone can be confused by them, especially now that they have big ALL TURNS signs right near them. Now traffic circles, those things are deadly.
Personally, I love jughandles. I wish someone had told me about them before I drove in New Jersey for the first time, but once I knew what they were, I thought they were awesome.

ReplyDeleteThere's still a traffic circle in my NJ town, one that's been carefully reconfigured over the years to be more annoying and impossible to navigate.
ReplyDeletePeople who can't figure out jughandles definitely shouldn't be allowed on the Interstate.
ReplyDeleteJug handles in and of themselves are not necessarily a problem, it is the inconsistency of the jug handles that's a problem.
