NOT OKAY, LESS THAN AWESOME: Spurred by the high ratings
HIMYM has continued to get and the issues it's had with newer comedies on Monday, CBS has
officially ordered a pilot of How I Met Your Dad, which will focus on another group of friends who hang out at McLaren's, with an entirely new cast. (No, this won't be a "flip side" story of the show led by Miliotti.) Seems like a safe bet that it'll be leading off CBS Mondays next fall. (That said, during pilot season last year,
Beverly Hills Cop and
NCIS: Red sure sounded like slamdunks.)
Is it true that, in an effort to show the other side of things, the first season will suck and the rest will be really good?
ReplyDeleteI'm not allowed to comment on this since I'm apparently the only person who's been enjoying the last couple of seasons while admitting there's been some flaws.
ReplyDeleteTo be truthful, this season has been decent.
ReplyDeleteYou know what would make this show awesome? If they just revived "Happy Endings," with the same cast and creative team, and brought it to CBS under the new name. If they need McLaren's, they can have them all move to New York, but I say keep them where they are.
ReplyDeleteRIP, Happy Endings. You were so much better than so much that's out there.
And took a big step forward with this week's episode.
ReplyDeleteMuch as I like seeing Coach on New Girl, I miss Damon Wayons Jr and Eliza Coupe. Not to get all philosophical about it, but they may have been the best married couple on TV for how much they loved and cared for each other. Plus, those two just played off of each other beautifully.
ReplyDeleteLyndsy Fonseca is old enough now that she could play The Person Who Met Your Dad. I'd watch the first few episodes just for that bit of casting mojo.
ReplyDelete(side note to bring up my latest HIMYM theory: while we have, now, Met The Mother, has it ever been explicitly stated that Ted is, in fact, these kids' dad?)
I don't know, I think this will be at least as big a hit as That 80s Show....
ReplyDeleteI...huh....I mean, it's implied...so....
ReplyDeleteNO, not going down that rabbit hole.
I believe that, at the end of last season, I stated my theory that, in 2030, the Mother is dead and Ted is with Aunt Robin (whose marriage to Barney, shockingly, did not work out). I know several others here disagreed and thought it would be weird for Ted to refer to Robin as "Aunt Robin" under those circumstances. But I still hold onto this as a viable theory. And the more they show us the future of Ted and Mother this season, the more strongly I feel about it. (I am not current, so if last week's ep destroys my theory, I don't know it yet.)
