WE DIDN'T LOSE VIETNAM. IT WAS A TIE!  The Dissolve's Mike D'Angelo reviews Kevin Kline's turn on A Fish Called Wanda and the other top supporting acting performances of 1988. "Otto is just such a sui generis creation," he writes, "an absurdist embodiment of American idiocy as seen through English eyes, vulgar yet weirdly graceful, prone to venting his frustration (“I’m disaPPOINTED!!!”) with leaps and kicks that would look at home in a big Broadway dance number."

Oddly, Mrs Earthling and I are watching this right now. What a terrific film.

  2. Wanda is one of about 100 must-see movies that my girlfriend has never seen. I think Wanda is one of the "top 3" on my list for her, along with Casablanca and A Few Good Men. (In the spirit of reciprocity, I will watch various Will Ferrell movies with her.)

  4. Wow, Spacewoman just accused me of the same thing, using the same words, during a FB chat. There were reasons I could not discuss publicly before this week (divorce: finalized!!). But, yeah, we've been seeing each other for a good while, and I now feel ok using the g word!
