IF DAUGHTRY ISN'T BROUGHT IN TO RECORD HUEY LEWIS' LINES, THIS EVENT IS FAIL: I have my doubts about the "We Are The World" remake, but asking Lil Wayne to do Bob Dylan's lines is genius. Justin Bieber to take on Michael Jackson's opening lines, though?

Full list of performers here, including Barbra Streisand, Freda Payne, Brian Wilson, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole and also a bevvy of one-named artists under the age of 60 including Akon, Brandy, Mya, Will.i.am, Pink, Usher and holy crap is there really a rapper named "Nipsey Hussle"? Because that's awesome.

Among the absent: Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake and Ra-Ra-Ah-Ah-Ah, Roma, Ro-Ma-Ma, Gaga, Ooh La La.

<span>Not only does Nipsey Hussle exist, he was on one of Drake's best songs last year. <span>

Is Justin Bieber big in America, too?  I thought he was just a big deal around here because he's from a small town a half hour drive away.  Huh.

  3. I find it disturbing that Justin Bieber has girls screaming for him, as he appears to be six.

I have been wondering all day if Lady Gaga deigned to grace the song with her presence.  Bummer.

I think he's actually about 15, but yeah.  Baby face.  I attended a social justice rally type thing in the fall with some of my students, and he was one of the surprise performers.  There was a lot of screaming.  Afterward I said to some of the girls (eighth graders), "He's not much to look at, but he has a half decent voice," and one of them repiied, "Really?  I think the exact opposite."  Video killed the radio star, indeed.

The screams for Justin Bieber, though, were nothing compared to the screams when the Jonas Bros appeared on screen in a video message.  And when they walked out onto the stage, you couldn't hear a word they said or sang for the screaming.

It goo goo without Gaga. The fact that Celine Dion is slipping into Cyndi Lauper's role is just plain wrong! Justin Bieber embodies all that is wrong in the world. He's like the boy equivalent of a girl in a beauty pageant. Ick. And those are my random thoughts on that topic.

On another note...I just came from a Martin Luther King, Jr. (I realize it's a little behind schedule) assembly at my daughters' elementary school. The chorus performed a whole bunch of songs and read some poems and parts of speeches. Wow! Too awesome. Many weepy eyes (mine included).

I hate everything about this, except the hope that it may raise some needed funds.
