NOT BETTER OFF, BUT THE NEXT BEST THING: Alan Sepinwall reports that the missing two episodes of Better Off Ted, which ABC refused to air because it hates you, are now available on iTunes. Those of you who watched the show may now rejoice. Those of you who didn't watch the show are horrible persons and I don't care what you do.

Been waiting for these.  I just downloaded season 2 to my ipod last weekend.  Given that I've been stuck in a conference room this week on a fairly tedious project, the one where Jenkins dies at work has been particularly apt.  I may have even said, "Do it for Jenkins" once or twice...

The DVD for BOT is one of the few things I want for my birthday next week. I think I have more anticipation about watching BOT on DVD than old seasons of The Office.

It's nice having the episodes, but be warned it's an incredibly bare-boned set with no extras at all.  But hey, I only paid $7 or so for it.<span> </span>

Who cares about extras. I just want the episodes. They're funny enough for me.

  5. Threadjack, but a note to frequent commenter Carmichael Harold:  If you read this, can you please let us know that you're ok?  I believe you work in the building currently under siege outside the DC area.

I am glad you posted this- I remembered we had a commenter here in that building but didn't remember who.  I also am thinking of you, CH, and would like to know you're ok.

  7. I've checked his FB page: "<span>Thanks for all the messages. I'm out of the building and ok, though my thoughts are with my colleagues who are being held."</span>

Thanks for the update, Adam; I didn't know he worked there.  Scary, scary stuff.

Thanks all for the thoughts.  I got out, as did many others, and have made my way home.  Worried about those that remain.

So glad to hear you're okay, CH.  Wishing the best for those who are still there.

Thanks.  Just heard on the news that it's over.  They shot the gunman and it sounds like none of the three hostages were hurt.  Still, apparently, explosive devices in the building.

  12. CNN now reporting that the gunman is in custody and all hostages are safe.

Ack.  Glad that all of the hostages got out okay, but that's scary stuff.

I'm very grateful that you're ok and that things ended without injury to the hostages. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Do we know for sure they'll release a season 2 DVD? There's no release date on Amazon for it yet. I want to see these episodes and am annoyed at the idea of paying for them. ABC should have put them on Hulu for free for at least a few days. (Yes, I know they'd rather make money off them, but jerking around the fans and then making them pay to see it is obnoxious. They could have made money on the ad revenue.)

I didn't pay to watch any of season one or the first 12 episodes of season 2, I watched little or none of the advertising on the show (aside from the Veridian stuff), and if I saw any of the advertising at all, I'm reasonably confident it didn't influence me in the least.  If, at the outset of the show's brief run, ABC sent me the first episode and then showed up at my door to tell me they wouldn't air another moment of the show until I coughed up a hundred bucks, I would have paid it on the spot.  I realize that's all water under the bridge (or, as the smart people say, sunk cost), but I can't fault ABC for finally wising up.  Because I have zero doubt that I'll get $6 of enjoyment out of those two episodes, I have already bought them.

Season 2 is available on Netflix instant now. I would guess that portends a DVD release, though the more I think about it, the more I realize I have no hard evidence for that guess.

According to today's paper, new TV/movies in the iTunes store won't work on the new iPod nano, only on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Mac, or Windows PC?  So I guess that means I can watch it on my PC, but not my iPod which is the most recent nano?  That is weird and annoying.

However, because I loved BOT so much, I'll buy these and figure out how to watch them on the computer (it'll be the first time I've bought anything besides music on iTunes).

The new touchscreen iPod nano doesn't support any video. The older versions of the nano should support video to the same extent that you've always used, but you may need to buy from iTunes rather than rent from iTunes to use it on the nano.

Thanks, Andrew.  Mine has video - I think it's version 4 and I thought it was the latest, but they must've brought out a new one since.
