Interesting tidbit from that piece about Donal Logue in "Stuckeyville" becoming Michael Ian Black in "Ed." If nothing else, I'm glad for the change because otherwise I doubt there'd be such a thing as "Mike and Tom Eat Snacks" today and that would be a sadder world, indeed.
the problem with Garofalo is that when I see her, I instantly recognise her as... herself. She needs to go the "Louie" route and just do a sitcom on her own.
In early 1998, I was near NYU and happened to see Ms Garafalo walking two very big dogs (about Houston @ Mercer as googled up). I said nothing to her directly, but a half block later I ran into someone I knew from law school. Since I was rarely in New York, this was a double surprise. I exchange a couple of pleasantries, and noted that while I had just seen Ms Garafalo a moment before, I was much happier to see him.
Well, at that very moment later Ms. Garafalo comes by back from her walk (having doubled back at Broadway, I guess) and stops to give me these evil dagger eyes. I'm a loud talker -- she no doubt her me say that I had just seen her. Fast forward a few years and I hear her ranting about the perils of B-list fame and I hear her go off about some fat guy getting all excited that she saw her and her two dogs walking around near NYU (in her cynical "can you believe how empty people's lives must be?" tone). Now, it could have been any fat guy, but I like to think I made her life that much more marginally unpleasant.
Also, the community works around here because folks post with a consistent pseudonym, so please think about that before posting any sort of newly anonymous handle, even to make an aside.
You should tell that story, and then follow it up with: "After that, I lost a bunch of weight, and then I ran into Garafalo again. Next thing I know she's going off about some old guy who saw her on the street. Hollywood is so unfair."
Sorry, that was me. Although you have no reason to believe me, the change in handle was unintentional(ineffective use of the back button coming from another site). I still like your site, much more so than I do Garafalo.
It's your house so I have no intention of initiating a debate, but me thinks you are being overly-sensitive as to the nature of my comment. There was certainly no particular malice on my part, just obvious observation. Peace.
1. Make up your mind between Nigel and Kyle here and stick with it. 2. The (misspelled) slur you used is one that, had you just owned it, I likely wouldn't have deleted. But there are other ways you could have said that.
But she DID play the role of Beth in Wet Hot American Summer, a role for which I am forever grateful.

She would in fact have been an inferior choice in every single instance of the examples referenced. So, well done casting directors.
