I think Penner voted for Abi in the event Malcolm used his idol, and Abi handed her idol over to Pete, canceling out all votes, leaving one vote for Abi. I think he was too confident that Skupin would vote for Pete, and unaware of the plan to vote for Jeff.
Still trying to figure out what the hell Penner's vote was about. Was he just not on the same page as those he seemed to be rallying, was it a passive-aggressive swipe as Dan's recap posits, or is there method to the madness (such as an unseen side deal with the #2 votegetter's alliance)?
There is no reason why anyone would not want to be in a Final Three with Captain Crazypants.
If by Captain Crazypants you mean Abi, I agree. So it makes eminent sense to vote out "Not Abi," but I'm not sure why, if you're Penner, it doesn't also make sense to make that vote for Pete, rather than knock out Kent.Mind you, I don't like Kent and I'm glad he won't be winning. But strategically for Penner, at this point in the game, I don't really get it.
I had trouble following all the flipping around happening during the game to start with. Mostly because I got 3 hours of sleep, thanks to the election. I enjoyed it immensely, though. Can't figure out for the life of me why Penner would vote for Abi instead of someone with actual power in the game, but it sure was entertaining television.
Probst, in his EW interview, says the "blown opportunity" was Penner's failure to realign the game at that council. We shall see. His vote makes no sense.
Malcolm is now my current favorite on the show; perhaps not to win, but to root for. That display and non-use of his Idol was simply masterful. Abi? Not so much.I watched Kent's rant three times in a row, by the way. Nothing not great about that goofiness.
We rewound it too, because my wife found it so jarring (she's not a baseball fan, so she didn't know anything about Kent). Agree re: Malcolm - and Abi's followup display came off just as ridiculous as his was masterful.
So how is this season? I dropped the show from my rotation because I have a busy fall, but (without reading recaps or other specifics) I'm getting the impression that the entertainment value has been above average thus far... and I'm tempted to catch up in time for the finale...
There's nothing quite like reading commentary on a reality show you're not watching.
How much to spoil? You've got some entertaining returning players, esp. Penner, and two former celebs in Jeff Kent and Blair from Facts of Life. And there's no obvious Pagonging going on at any point.
I'm really loving the lack of Pagonging this season. It was what I was hoping for with the 3 teams in the beginning. When the first team (Russell's) completely fell apart, I figured it was back to business as usual, but happily that hasn't happened.
I totally agree. I have never watched Survivor, and I read the recap hoping I would glean something about the show. Turns out, not really.
