IN THIS ONE, BOND EXPOSES THE SEEDY UNDERBELLY OF SUBURBIA AND DEALS WITH HIS CRIPPLING ALCOHOLISM: It's not yet official, but allegedly
Daniel Craig wants Oscar winner Sam Mendes to direct the new Bond flick, and the producers seem inclined to oblige. Certainly, Mendes has made some fine films, but I'm not persuaded he's right for this.
Sam Mendes and Joe Wright are heavy-handed on the symbolism and their movies (with the possible exceptions of Away We Go and Pride & Prejudice) lack oxygen. Mendes would not be my first choice for a Bond. Paul Greengrass would.
ReplyDeleteGreengrass would be great, but he's already done Bond better than Bond does it with the Bourne movies.
ReplyDeleteI dont understand... Mendes is all about story and symbolism with very little action. I mean, the guy made a war movie with almost no (if any?) scenes of actual war.
ReplyDeleteI'm not suggesting give it to Michael Bay (although...) but Mendes doesnt make any sense for Bond.
i agree it's an odd choice. on the bright side, if sam directs does that mean that kate winslet will be the hot, smart, kickass bond girl? that's something i'd like to see...
