OH MY GOD, IT WAS MR. MCMAHON IN DISGUISE ALL THE TIME!  Throwing back to the 70s eta New Scooby-Doo Movies, when the Scooby Gang teamed up with folks like Mama Cass, Don Knotts, and Batman and Robin to solve mysteries, the next in the direct-to-video animated movie series will feature Scooby, Shaggy, and the gang solving a mystery at WrestleMania and teaming up with WWE Superstars.

YOU MIGHT VERY WELL THINK THAT.  I COULDN'T POSSIBLY COMMENT:  Netflix's House of Cards returns tonight for its second (and last) season.  While I'm still a great fan of the BBC original with Ian Richardson -- and I think the structure of British Parliament makes these sorts of shenanigans a bit less implausible -- this has been a great deal of fun.

IT WAS TWENTY YEARS (AND A DAY) AGO TODAY:  John Chaney. John Calipari.
ALOTT5MA FRIDAY GRAMMAR RODEO:  As Language Log notes, the "worst choice of preposition-phrase modifier placement anywhere in the world" might be the recent E! Online website headline of "Cameron Diaz Encourages Women to Keep Their Pubic Hair in Her New Book."

THE SONG IS BARELY THREE MINUTES LONG, BUT IT CHANGES KEYS 18 TIMES:  A thinkpiece on "Birdhouse in Your Soul":
Both literary and exuberantly naive, the song epitomizes a particular everything-at-once way of thinking and being. In the ’80s, it was easy to disparage hyperassociation like this as awkwardly geekish. It belied an ignorance of when to shut up—think Rick Moranis as the factoid-spouting Louis Tully in Ghostbusters. (Or for that matter, Rick Moranis in anything.) But something funny happened on the way to the millennium: the geeks won.
This is a Blizzapocalypse Open Thread.
