CAN THE FIGHTING IRISH DEFEAT A MONARCH? Our annual ESPN NCAA Tournament Bracket Challenge is now open -- group name: "ALOTT5MA". Last year's winner was J. Bowman.

Your thoughts on the bracket are, of course, welcome.

added: Dan Levy has some thoughts on the times and announcing crews, including an underwhelming Gus Johnson subregional and -- shockers -- Jim Nantz getting a Duke game in prime time.

My most fearless prediction for this year is that I will not repeat.

Round 2, Syracus V. Gonzaga, is going to be a tough touch.

Somehow, I don't think I'm going to see Cal get past Duke.  But the most local team to me, St. Mary's (just two and a half miles from our house), might not actually get rolled in the first round this time.

  5. Last night was the two-hour odyssey with our tax preparer, and I know Matt has work-related obligations.  I know Fienberg has a recap up, as should Reality Blurred.
