WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR DNA:The new boss on CSI: Original Recipe will be Ted Danson. Danson's been doing some interesting work in recent years both comic (Curb Your Enthusiasm and Bored to Death, which has already wrapped a third season with Danson) and dramatic (Damages), and may actually get me to tune in (Wednesday at 10 is a wasteland with ABC's boring-sounding Revenge and L&O: Extra Tasty Crispy). Of more interest is the report of who they went to first--Tony Shalhoub, Robin Williams, and John Lithgow. Has the time come for Williams to return to TV? If so, is this the way for him to look at getting there?

As long as Robin Williams avoids children's movies, he can make some interesting choices and act the hell out of (some of) them. And just like that, the "Bop Gun" episode of H:LotS just showed up on my TiVo.

There aren't a lot of better ways to say "Isaac, we would like you to not watch this show" than saying "our first three choices are Tony Shalhoub, Robin Williams, and John Lithgow." I guess "our first three choices were Billy Crystal, Tyra Banks, and Nancy Grace," but that seems unlikely.

ReplyDeleteAgreed, I'm much more likely to watch with Ted Danson than with the other three.
ReplyDeleteMy show kryptonites would be David Caruso, William Shatner, and Christian Slater.
I've been on a Cheers binge of late - if anything, it's convinced me what a terrific actor Danson is, period.
ReplyDeleteAlso that whatever casting diretor found David Hyde Pierce to be Niles retroactively deserves a raise. In his early years as Frasier, Kelsey Grammer's resemblance to DHP is uncanny.
Danson was remarkable on Damages, and he really was perfect in Cheers. I'll be interested to see how he does here.
