EGOT RED ALERT: In the oddest team-up ever, Burt Bacharach (EGO), Elvis Costello (Grammy Winner, Oscar Nominee), and Chuck Lorre (oodles of Emmy nominations but no wins), are
apparently at work on a musical based on the Bacharach/Costello album "Painted From Memory."
It's perfect time to make some plans for the future and it's time to be

I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I'm assuming having
ReplyDeletea blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I'm not very internet savvy so I'm not 100% positive.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Agree the Chuck Lorre inclusion is odd, but the Bacharach/Costello combination is fantastic. It started on the soundtrack for "Grace of My Heart" (a movie I love, though the Matt Dillon section is kind of unbearable). The music coordinators wanted music for the movie that would sound like 1960s music that was ahead of its time, so they teamed up old and new composers to write together, leading to one of my favorite soundtracks. The Bacharach/Costello song, "God Give Me Strength" is one of my favorite songs, and Painted from Memory is great.
ReplyDeleteI am a HUGE Painted from Memory fan and, while the Lorre connection puzzles, I really am excited for this evolution of the content. The album is a wonderful suite of songs, and while I never noticed a plot peeking out of the thematic turns they take at break ups and lost loves, doesn't mean one can't fit.
ReplyDeleteVindication for a criminally underrated song cycle. I echo all the opinions below, and submit that Grace of My Heart is must-see if only for the scene of Illeana Douglas lip synching to Kristen Vigard's "God Give Me Strength," sung all the way through with solo piano -- you can't keep a dry eye through that one.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of Grace of My Heart. Nearly all of the music is good, especially "God Give Me Strength," "Boat on the Sea," "My Secret Love, and "I Do."
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the other EC-penned song for that movie, "Unwanted Number." There's a local game where they whisper my shame/They said, "He gave her his child, he wouldn't give her his name/They will torture me from January til September/And soon there's gonna be another unwanted number." Great opener.
ReplyDeleteI was just listening to that the other day.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I need to listen to the soundtrack this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHEre's the scene, in case someone hasn't seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ese5A8Y-Sdg
ReplyDeleteI just love her body language through the whole thing, especially the ending. And I like Vigard's version more than the Costello one on the soundtrack, probably because I prefer it with just the piano.
Seriously, go watch this movie. I may watch it again tonight.
UGH SO GOOD. So good.
