THE LEGO MOVIE GETS SNUBBED AGAIN: With the 2010s amazingly more than half-over, the AV Club is looking back on The Best 100 Films of the Decade (so far) and scattered among your those films that have been sitting on your Netflix queue since the Chilean miners were trapped (hard to dive into No. 1, The Master, when you can rewatch the Kimmy Schmidt), you'll also find some multiplex friendly flicks like The Avengers, Toy Story 3, and Inception.

I can't believe "The Tree of Life" was #3. That movie is just...ugh. Maybe that's my Malick slogan: Malick, ugh.
ReplyDeleteI fell asleep moments into Tree. I think I would like it back when I was younger and snootier (and able to stay awake).
ReplyDeleteI feel like this list is also a definitive demonstration of why I would be a hated and reviled movie reviewer. The Master is number 1? Kill me now.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen The Master, but I'm all behind A Separation being the best movie that I've seen this decade.
ReplyDeleteA solid list, despite missing Stoker from 2013, but I still think The Master and Wolf Of Wall Street are just not that good.
ReplyDeleteWow is Toy Story 3 too low on this list. I wonder how folks would have voted with a second chance to review the list nominated by others. Like: The World's End is a nice little movie, but in no way does it belong as high as it is.
ReplyDeleteAgree about Toy Story 3 being way too low. I tear up about three different times in that film still after dozens of viewings.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw The Master was number 1 I felt no need to click through. I haaaaaaaaaaated that movie.
ReplyDeleteToday's Q&A at the AV Club has everyone's choice for what they felt *shouldn't* have made the list and one person dares to say TS3 shouldn't, which perhaps accounts for that. (And thankfully, there's also people calling out Master, Wolf of Wall Street and the head-scratcher of Computer Chess making that list.)

I don't hate it, but I don't get the love for it. Masterfully shot though.
ReplyDeleteVery pleased that "Edge of Tomorrow" and "Ghost Protocol" made the cut. And not shocked there are so few recent Best Picture winners.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, at this point, I don't even remember what I hated about it. I just remember walking out of it twice because I was so miserable. I wish I had something more profound to say than that. But I'm not going to sit through it again.
