HANGIN’ WITH MR. COOPER: Now that’s exactly what I wanted from a flash-sideways. It told us something relevant about the alternate-world characters, it brought back some people I missed, it mentioned others, it gave us something to think about regarding the timeline (we know that the Linuses actually made it to the island, and it wouldn’t have made sense for them to go there if Pierre Chang/Marvin Candle weren’t there supervising the project; we’ve now also seen, in Los Angeles, two of the people who were born on the island before The Event), it started to weave together the divergent strands of the Oceanic passengers, and it worked as a stand-alone. I’m still waiting for Desmond, the constant, to show up in the flash-sidewayses to blow our minds with his out-of-timeliness, but if they’re all as good and useful as that one, the wait will be pleasant enough.

We also need more sidestory on the Kwan's, as well as Hurley. Also, this totally blows my theory of Sawyer conning Hurley out of the water, although now it looks like we could get confrontation between Sawyer (I guess he gets called Ford in the sidestory?) and Locke.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I was inappropriately giggling a little during the scene where Claire attacks Kate, because Sayid reacted the same way I would have...
Kate: Sayid, help me!
Sayid: Meh.
And now Kate is paired BACK with Sawyer, and now in both timelines. Awesome. I'm going to miss the running gag of the season of people running by Kate in the woods.
One more thing- Charlotte was almost unrecognizable to me all made up. It took me a second to figure out who she was.
Loved that the preview for this show had "Bird on a Wire." More LC soundtracked montages, please. Our local PBS played LC at the Isle of Wright last week- awesome; however, he looked OLD in 1970- what is he now? 100?

ReplyDeleteRewatched most of the Ben episode as well last night, and some of the dialogue is just too anvillicious for words. The Elba stuff? C'mon.
This is purely a "help me out because I think many of you have rewatched these more recently than I": It looked like the dock where Widmore's sub was resting was the same dock we've seen before (e.g., the Season 2 finale and the DHARMA eps), but I thought that dock was on the "main" island, not on Hydra island. Am I wrong about that (probably)? Or are there two docks that look basically the same? Or something else.

The dock we've seen was on the main island, by New Otherton. But why would you assume that there was only one dock? If you're using a submarine to ferry people from one island to the other, you need two docks. You'll probably build them both at the same time, using the same design.

ReplyDeleteThis is probably the wrong place to be talking about technical issues, I apologize for this. I'm not seeing any new comments at all on my system at the office (Windows XP, Firefox 3.6), and when I click on comments there, I get a pop-up window that doesn't show the conversation threads. Sorry, I just have no idea what's going on, and I'm usually kind of tech savy!
