I don't either (at least beyond the extent expressed in the post)--I found it to be Twilight plus HBO elements (sex, violence, nudity, etc.) and with even more ludicrous accents. I really like some of Charlaine Harris' and Alan Ball's other work, though.
I watch it without more than infrequent enjoyment. The utter ridiculousness of it is something I like (remember, one of my favorite movies is Cruel Intentions), but occasionally I'll find myself getting intrigued by a plot. And the moment that happens, they will cut away to a melodrama about a family of people that turn into dogs but don't get along, or a vampire-themed remake of the Candace Cameron/Fred Savage abuse television special, or a lighthearted episode of Alice except with a hot vampire Alice and a pint-sized redheaded Flo and a gay drug-dealing Mel.
(wouldn't it be more like "Beeel!"?)
ReplyDeleteI tried, but I don't "get" this show. Am I too old? Is it too stupid? Am I alone on this?

ReplyDeleteHa! This video totally illustrates your point re: True Blood vs. Twilight (NSFW, to air on the side of caution?):
