SYSTEMATIC! HYDROMATIC! KLOSTERMANIC! So what's the deal with
Bill Simmons' new sports-and-culture website?
Dan Shanoff explains "it is what
The Awl could be -- if one of the world's largest media companies opened up its resources and said 'Do anything you think you should.'... It presents ideal conditions to launch what Bill is trying. It will be successful -- mostly, because I honestly can't imagine the future of media, sports or otherwise, if it CAN'T be."
I, for one, welcome our new outdated pop-culture reference overlords.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, man. That was even harsher than when Brenda found out about Dylan and Kelly.
ReplyDeleteMy buddy JT says it's bigger than that October 1988 Celtics game at the Hawks when Bird scored 22 in the first half just because Spud Webb insulted his mama.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds a bit like a combination of the old Page 2 and what the Huffington Post was originally supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused by the suggestion that HuffPo once had a plan.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for the Simmons site because it promises to triple the available sports coverage that I (1) can stand, (2) can understand, and (3) am reliably able to locate.
So, if he can't make money with this site, he shouldn't be in the money-making business?
ReplyDeleteThe HUffington Post's 3-step plan seems to have worked pretty well for them:
ReplyDelete1. Start blog
2. ??
3. Profit!
Aw! Time to break out the DVDs again...
