SEACREST IN?  He's apparently being recruited to replace Matt Lauer on The Today Show.

Please tap Brian Roberts to stage an intervention.

Eh, why not.  He's doing everything else.

I HAAAAAAATE this idea. Today has been my morning show, always, but I'm nit a huge Ann Curry fan and if it ends up being her and Seacrest I will say goodbye to the show. I think Ryan is very good at celeb schmoozing, Idol hosting, etc. and that those jobs aren't as easy as they look. But for Today you need to be able to do that, some silly stuff, and sometimes a hard-hitting interview or news piece and I would never take him seriously doing that. Someone on twitter (can't recall who) summed it up as, "Would you have stayed on NBC on 9/11 if Ryan Seacrest were the host?"

Wouldn't he have to take a huge pay cut?

  5. Lauer makes $17M, highest in the tv news world and $4M more than Brian Williams.

Seacrest makes $15M/yr through Idol (until 2012), plus: "<span>Seacrest hosts his KIIS-FM radio show, produces the Kardashian reality show franchise for E! (where he is also the managing editor and lead anchor for E! news) and </span>Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution<span> (which won an Emmy last year). Altogether he earns </span>$55 million a year."

  6. Totally agree with Maret.  I've always liked the Today show, but I'm not an Ann Curry fan (she always seems like she's working really, REALLY hard to be warm and friendly) and I've stayed for Matt Lauer.  I find myself more and more switching over to Good Morning America, where I really like Robin Roberts and Lara Spencer (and George S. is good, but it's painful to watch him introduce pure-fluff segments).

I always find my people here!  Count me in as another who isn't an Ann Curry Fan.  Sue, you are right - she just doesn't feel very geniune in anything she does, whether it's a fun segment or something serious.  If Seacrest joins in, I will be out.

Brian Williams to Today, David Gregory to Nightly News and Maddow to Meet the Press. Boom. Solved.

I picture him more as the replacement for Regis rather than Matt Lauer.

  10. I dislike all of these people that aren't named Pat Kiernan.

  12. Talk about finding your people here :)  Pat is my man!  (I switch over to the network morning shows during sports segments, but NY-1 is my morning news show.)   You gotta love "What's in the papers." Not to mention his flirtatious banter with Jamie Shupak.
