THIS TIME, THE ALIENS SING! Courtesy of Fox's inability to have 9 people sing in an hour timeslot, make sure to check your DVR this morning, because it's a pileup tonight, with Glee, Lost, Parenthood, Morena Baccarin Had Better Eat A F*****g Guinea Pig Soon, A'ight?, and The Good Wife (which is a repeat this week) all running at least a minute or two into the 10 PM hour. FWIW, I've opted for Glee/Lost/V, though if Good Wife were new, I might go in a different direction.

Relatedly and sadly, the Glee cover story from Rolling Stone isn't available online, but was certainly the subject of much discussion on Twitter, and is an interesting read if just to discover how dirty-minded the interviewer was (one of his questions to Lea Michele--"Do you ever pee in the shower?") and little tidbits like Dianna Agron's original inability to find acting roles and that she sold a screenplay instead--if you want to discuss, this is the place.

I am also excited that Deadliest Catch is back tonight.

  2. I'm really impressed with The Good Wife -- they've made clear that this show isn't just about its initial premise from the title, but is telling good law-world stories in general.  Also, Gary Cole.

  3. Yes--and they're finally playing with structure and realizing that not every episode needs to have the tiresome "was Peter's downfall the product of a CONSPIRACY?"" arc plot.  Allegedly, the show's retooling a bit next season, with Alan Cumming coming on fulltime and rumors flying of another regular leaving.  Not sure how I feel about that.

Is there absolutely no place online that has the RS article available?

  5. Also, new "30 for 30" on Iverson premieres tonight.  It originally airs from 8 to 9:30, but you can grab the replay at 11.

    Re: Morena Baccarin: TROOF.

This version of 'V' is crazymaking.  Each episode I am just flabbergasted that I'm still watching.  However, I am still watching!  I just.... don't know.  Tyler is a pushover!  This show needs to introduce Mike Donovan, now, because I am certain that Scott Wolf is not meant to be a proper Mike Donovan analogue.  Also, let's get to Elizabeth's accelerated birth, tootsweet, OK?

    Pretenama.

Good Wife has become Appointment TV for me - love the way they're playing with structure. My guess at who is leaving is Logan...Cary...whatever - they've really marginalized the character, and the initial plot gives him a good exit. Have been loving Baranski and Cole's flirtation. It's nice to see her play someone well-fleshed-out for a change, instead of just "classy bitch."

Grateful that Good Wife is a repeat - I've dropped V (the countdown clock annoyed me THAT MUCH), so tonight is Glee/Lost/Parenthood, losing the first 2 minutes of Parenthood. Which is fine.

  9. i'm still watching good wife as well.  last week's scene with kalinda in the locker room was awesome (if admitttedly unrealistic).  tuesday night at 10 also means justified for our house.   i am still wishing i liked parenthood more than i do...but i'm still watching.  v has been jettisoned...along with flash forward.   lost is still our favorite show of the night.

  10. If more people punished networks for crap like that countdown clock, maybe they'd stop doing stunts like it.

  11. I never got on board the Good Wife train, but am open to trying it later.  Maybe I'll see if it's on Hulu.

Anyway, that makes tonight (1) watch Idol once the DVR has built up some fast-forwarding time, then (2) watch Lost after quickly dropping down some text votes for Crystal lest the save last week get rid of my favorite.  At a minimum, I intend to have standard to complain if something hinky happens tonight.

This for me, except watch Glee rather than Lost, and I'll call in my Crystal votes rather than text.  (Am thinking the safest way to watch Idol then Glee is to DVR Idol plus an hour? Otherwise might miss the beginning of Glee with the DVR stopping and starting again - keeps happening with 30 Rock after Office.

Until I become a Nielsen household, i'm not holding my breath. This is one of those times I hope they're monitoring my TiVo - they'd see that I had a Season Pass set for V, watched Lost, and as soon as Sun's note to Jack was obscured by the clock, I paused Lost, deleted that night's V episode, cancelled my V Season Pass, and went back to watching Lost. Customer preferenes don't get any clearer than that.

Marsha - that's a pretty cool move - I wonder how many other people did that and if anyone noticed... I mean, you obviously were far from the only one annoyed by the countdown clock (I hated it) and some of those people annoyed have gotta be Nielsen families, right? Or am I being overly optimistic?

Unfortunately, The Good Wife is not on hulu, but can be watched on cbs.com - which, by the way, is a completely frustrating and shitty video player.  Has anyone talked about this?  How their commercials take 4 minutes to load and so make watching a show way longer than it should normally take?

You probably wont' see this, but the solution for Thursday night is simply to tape the entire comedy block as a single entity, plus an extra minute at the end. Has much improved my TV watching.

I read the Glee article in Target and was horrified. The sheer amount of awful questions he asked most of them, his attitude, the fact that the cast was complaining about how disturbing the guy was (to everyone but Chris, I guess), the fact that Jane Lynch chewed him out... And that doesn't even go into how he wrote it in "the royal we" form. Awful, awful, awful.

Naturally, this turned out to be the same guy who interviewed John Mayer. WHY WAS I NOT SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT?

Seriously, folks, read it in a real life store if you have to. It's scarier than some horror movies.
