This is really great. Foley's writing has always been super-entertaining, if you care at all for his subject matter. So seeing this for a general audience is neat.
Nothing not to love about that story. I shared a love of Amos with my ex and went to plenty a concert with her (and met Ms. Amos a few times, and she's a very nice woman).
What a great piece! Slate at times can fetishize the idea of being counterintuitive, but this is exactly the kind of unexpected story that it should find more of.
When I'm about to throw myself against barbed wire I often sing along to Happy Phantom, so I completely understand.
