IN THE BILLIARD ROOM WITH THE LEAD PIPE:As part of Hasbro's continuing effort to cross-merchandise every one of its board games (seriously--
Battleship?), a
5 part mini-series called Clue arrives on The Hub tomorrow night. Of course, the
1985 film still has a devoted following, with its multiple endings and random casting (
Jane Weidlin as a singing telegram?), so I'll stick with that.
All I care is that the singing telegram led me to Madeline Kahn with the infamous hate monologue, and which then led me to her with Grover on her lap, and that's all I needed:

Communism was just a red herring.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing that popped into my head. And Matt, did it have the multiple endings in the theaters, or one ending, but you didn't know which one you were going to get?
ReplyDeleteIIRC, different theatres had different endings, and they advertised "Ending A at these theatres, Ending B at these theatres..." in the hopes of juicing repeat viewing (it didn't work).
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, it's a Tim Curry movie. By definition, no one saw it first run in theaters.
ReplyDeleteAhem. Saw ending A in the theater, and then went back to see ending C (which is the best). Love, love, love, Clue The Movie.
ReplyDeleteI did see it in the theaters. My excuse is that it was before the Internet and even before Borders, so it was either that or buy a Garfield book at B. Dalton's.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I think they should've stopped making board-game movies; they could never top "Twister."
