OFFICER LOCKSTOCK IS ENFORCING THESE NEW RULES: Starbucks, in an effort to cut maintenance costs, is apparently reducing or eliminating public bathrooms at many of its Manhattan locations. It's a privilege to pee, my friends, a privilege to pee.

  2. I know this is a loaded question around here but.....  Is that legal?  I thought a business had to have available bathrooms if it served food/ drink.

It says in the Post article that, at least in NYC, there only needs to be a bathroom if there are 20+ seats. Many of the ones in Manhattan have significantly fewer than that -- some only 4-5 at a counter.

  4. This makes me terribly angry.  Not Starbucks, per se, but the general idea in society that people won't share bathrooms.

Having starbucks locations in the lobby of many office buildings downtown, it has long been an issue to provide 'facilities' to the public. I've heard many convoluted directions to the washroom where in the end people just decide to wait till they get back to their office, or whatever. I knew one where you had to ask the consierge to escort you after 5pm. Awkward.
At least if it's known in advance by way of a company policy (and nothing travels faster than 'breaking news from starbucks', am I right?) I hope there wouldnt be any issues.

Cant' wait to see the marketing of other coffee outlets.... "We have washrooms!... and coffee"

  8. I didn't want to say it, but yes.  Jeez, just use the facilities and take your masturbation to the public parks, where it belongs.

Do you share your bathroom with strangers?

  11. I don't invite people into my apartment and then charge them for coffee.

Sort of off topic, but not totally - I had to pay to pee when I was in Scotland over the summer.
